A demo for the popular PlayStation 3 title, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, is going up on the PlayStation Network today. This is a good time to release a demo with all the hype about the game. Go check it out if you are one of the silly people who owns a PS3 but hasn’t played Uncharted 2.
I still haven’t played Mass Effect 2 yet. I will get around to it. Really.
Bioshock 2 is going the way of Modern Warfare 2 and will not have dedicated server support or LAN play. Hopefully this isn’t a trend that will stick around long.
Activision is making some of their games available on Good old Games. Head to gog.com to download Arcanum or Gabriel Knight. I’m all for cheap classic games.
All the hype about Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is making me curious about the game. I might have to check it out.
In news about the blog I’m really liking the rapid fire style I’ve used. I’ll still do some full-sized posts in the style of reviews and opinions.
Keep on gaming people!
I didn’t think this would happen actually. I thought I was in a minority of gamers that would rather play an RPG then “the most anticipated game of the year”. Apparently PC gamers are all like me, which is a rather scary thought since world domination is on my list of life goals.
Dragon Age: Origins beat out Modern Warfare 2 in sales this week for the PC. MW2 was of course the top-selling game for consoles, but DAO was number 2 for the 360, and it came in third on PS3. Now this means one of two things. Either all the bad changes to MW2 caused it to lose a significant amount of sales, or DAO is an awesome enough game to beat out MW2 no matter what. I think it’s a combination of the 2 myself.
Dragon age is truly a great game and it’s sales are showing it. I think it will take awhile for it to gain momentum and popularity since it’s new IP. I see this one staying strong with sales for bit.
Infinity Ward really frakked up this one for PC gamers. I’m actually surprised that it’s came in second and not worse. I’m sure they expected higher sales and are scratching their heads in bewilderment. Hopefully they might fix some of these issues to try and regain some lost sales. I’ll buy it if they make the multiplayer suited to the PC.
Keep on gaming people!
First off let me apologize for not posting anything the past couple of days. I’ve been in bed with the swine flu and watching enough Stargate to the point of expecting Daniel Jackson to invite me out for a cup of coffee in the morning.
I know I’m biased because I don’t give a hoot about consoles, but I’m amused at the low consumer reviews for MW2. Over at metacritic the PC version of the game rates only a 1.4, the ps3 gets a 4.6, and the 360 version wins with a whopping 5.5.(Thats an average of 3.8) People are screaming that this is the same game with a small graphics update.
Over at Amazon the game sports an amazing 1.5 stars for the PC, which is a shower of praise from the PC gamer community for the games groundbreaking multiplayer and overall console port feeling.
I don’t deny that this is a good game for some people, and I’m sure it will be the top selling game of the year. I just think there is a need to buy it if you own COD4. For me all my PC friends I think we’ll stick that.
Keep playing Call of Duty 4 People!
The release of Infinity Ward’s newest game is coming up soon and there have been a few announcements that have rattled PC gamers.
The first of these scary bits of news is that MW2 will not support dedicated servers. This means that you won’t be able to host custom maps or run a server for you and your friends on game nights. This is not a problem if you don’t have friends or don’t like creative user made content.
Speaking of not having friends, you can only play with 17 other people at a time. Matches are limited to 9v9. That’s 9 people on a team. 18 people online at once. Not 24, 32, 64 or even 128, just 18. That sucks. This will not be a problem if you don’t have friends and have no intentions on getting any before your first bingo match at the nursing home.
You will have to connect to some match making service in order to play a game online. That blows in my book.
I have no doubt that the game will have a great single player experience, but it has fallen of my radar completely for multiplayer.
Keep on gaming people!
This November is shaping up to have some great releases lined up. This is bad news for me as I can’t buy all of them on launch day.
The first week of November will offer up Dragon Age: Origins, The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition, and Lego Rock Band. As you all know DAO has my hard earned money already. It’s not even an option for me. This game will not allow me to not own it and play it.
After that we are get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which I probably won’t play because I suck at shooters. I won’t forbid others from playing as I acknowledge that the game is awesome. It’s just not my cup of tea.
Week three has Left 4 dead 2 which I might purchase. I have just started getting into the original Left 4 Dead seriously and I might give myself a few more months with it before I move on. Also in this week are Assassin’s Creed 2 for console (the PC version has been delayed. You bastards!) and Dragon Age: Origins for the PlayStation 3.
Finally we get nothing. The last week pretty much dries up, but hey, who can complain with the games so far this month? We can’t have every week be awesome.
Keep gaming people!
